Etsy Shop Open!

My Etsy shop is finally open for business. I am just getting started, but there is a small selection of my work available, which I will be adding to in the coming weeks (see the Etsy link at right with thumbnails of some of the pieces). I will also be posting on my blog when I've listed a new batch of jewelry. Below I spotlight a necklace that is in my shop:

Trianon Necklace

Inspiration
This necklace was inspired in part by the aesthetics of the movie Marie Antionette by Sofia Coppola. It's named after Antoinette's pastoral retreat, Petite Trianon, built for her by her husband Louis as an escape from the court life at Versailles.
Technique:
I knew I wanted an oval pendant, so I went through my collection of vintage lace patterns until I found one that was the appropriate shape. I then began to chart the placement of the tiny vintage glass pearls and seed beads that dot the motif. When the resulting lace motif was finished, I crocheted some tiny, delicate, pink silk flowers and one larger gold flower to sprinkle across the pendant. These were accented with vintage rhinestones from my stash, pink freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals.
The three gold, crocheted flower medallions that balance the pendant were inspired by the flower motif at it's center. The chain was made by hand-- each link meticulously wrapped using gold-filled wire and freshwater pearls-- and finished off with a gold filled lobster clasp. As the finishing touch, the three citrine drops were added to the bottom of the pendant and a hand-embroidered label was stitched to the back of the pendant.
