Vibrant!

Barbara, of Southern Lady's Vintage put together this stunning Treasury on Etsy, featuring my Desdemona Butterfly Necklace in the upper left corner. My Creative Space...Wednesday

I've decided to change my weekly My Creative Space posts to Wednesday, not Thursday, as the bulk of the participants in the meme all live in Australia--and for them it is already Thursday, so I would be a day behind! 

Today I've been working on a custom order for a client who is getting married soon. I designed a pair of earrings to compliment the floral lace of her wedding dress, and the colors of its accompanying sash. Here is the lace motif started, resting on some of the initial sketches that I did for her (with a few tools of my trade.)

And here is a little peek into my workspace...I don't like sitting at desks for long lengths of time, so I can often be found making jewelry on the couch in our sunny living room. The wicker tray was originally a breakfast tray I believe--but it is perfect for holding all of my supplies in my lap while I'm working on a project!

I keep track of how long a design takes in the little notebook to the right. I have a collection of vintage trays that I use to hold my beads while I'm playing around with the design... one with ivy vines can be seen above. The little blue glass cup to the left holds my wire snippets which are eventually melted down and recycled into new findings.

Simply Beautiful...

I just came across this Treasury by Marbella Designs featuring my Ariana Earrings (3rd row, on the left). It certainly lives up to its title--the silver and creams and interesting textures are "simply beautiful!"

Introducing...My Creative Space Thursdays

I have decided to participate in a blogging "meme" I discovered through my friend Emma's blog---it's called My Creative Space 

and is a very clever concept started by the blogger Kootoyoo. 

Here's how it works: every Thursday (I know, today is Wednesday, but I was excited to give this a try!) I'll be posting pictures of works in progress in their natural environment-- which right now, since I'm working on a project of a much larger scale than my jewelry, is basically any free flat surface in our living room! 

In photo A, we see my favorite pin cushion--a beautiful lavender one hand-crafted by my mother--camouflaged among a lush assortment of vintage embroidered textiles, appliques,  and a smattering of hand-crafted lace of my own creation. This is all sitting on top of what is normally a comfy chair, which lately has been turning into a very handy catchall for my supplies....I'll have to check and make sure there aren't any stray pins left when I clear it off--ouch!

Some of the finery now tentatively pinned in place--this is the custom project for Courtney Love, so I don't want to show much more than this and spoil the surprise :)
