My Creative Space

Oh dear...I'm afraid it has been awhile since I last posted. I'm still here!

I've been working on the Courtney-Love-Seemingly-Never-Ending-Very-Lavish Project (I'm sure you are all tired of hearing of this, but it really is nearly finished--really! I am hoping to have some photos of it up by next week). In the meantime, I'm afraid I haven't been producing much jewelry, but I have been dreaming up new designs to create once the project is finished. So without further ado...the Mid-Week Sneak Peek, this week featuring My Sketchbook:

My friend Emma Lamb did a wonderful post showing the contents of her fascinating sketchbook, so I am going to take a page, so to speak, from her and show you the contents of mine...

Some little peacock feather designs (to match my favorite peacock feather pencil :) I hear that feathers are in right now!

And here are some flowery sketches of designs for Spring...

It's funny: although I love color and most of my designs feature bold combinations of it, I tend to sketch only in black and white...when it comes time to create a design, I let the supplies and colors that I feel drawn to at that moment inspire the color combinations. And most of my designs go through multiple revisions from the sketch to completion stage...

Some more sketches for Spring...sometimes the ideas come quickly so I jot them all down in a jumble--earrings and bracelets and necklaces all in one page!

Decadence and Luxury...

...this Treasury has it all! I came across it on Etsy the other day and was so smitten, I had to share a link. Entitled Decadence + Luxury, it was created by RealisationCreations, and features some of my favorite Etsy artists: Bonzie, Ecclectica, Klewism...in a mix that is definitely Versailles-worthy! My Ariana Earrings can be glimpsed in the center of the third row :)

My Creative Space

Since Valentines Day is nearly upon us, my Creative Space this week is appropriately romantic--with flowers, hearts and several shades of pink and red (including my tights, just glimpsed in the photo!) In my lap rests a vintage tin with a wonderful pattern in pink, fuschia, gold and pale blue. Inside is a rather untidy stash of embroidery threads...

I'm working on a little bit of embroidery today--I've cut out motifs from a piece of fabric and am  working a blanket stitch all around to prevent the edges from fraying...then they will be appliqued onto a project I'm working on...I'll post pics when it's all finished!

My Creative Space

I am still working on the Courtney Love project (which is involving literally over a hundred pieces of hand-made lace and lots of hand-embroidery) but I am managing to squeak a little bit of jewelry making in...

I've been inspired recently by the minute floral details of this vintage mosaic brooch from Italy and the vibrant colors of the metal tray beneath it...

Here are two pieces I'm working on right now--the top one is destined for a necklace, the bottom motif is going to be the center of a bracelet...

All of the little flowers and leaves were crocheted by hand, beaded and attached to a crocheted circle...

The bracelet motif awaiting the attachment of links of amethyst...it's one part Frida Kahlo, one part Victoriana!
